“The Moon at Midnite” is a wrap!
My book baby is with the formatter and once they send it to me the very last step is a proofread. WOW! “The Moon at Midnite” is on track for a late fall release.
I still can’t get over it. People are asking me if I’m excited. I think it’s equal parts excitement and terror. The terror comes from putting my creative soul out there for anyone to read but overall I’m very excited!!
My assistant is pumped to promote it and I have a Facebook page takeover coming up in November for my very first social media promotion. It is SURREAL this is finally happening! After many writing sessions at 4:30AM to 6:00AM before work, hours over the weekend, gallons of cafe mochas and studying how to get this right it has FINALLY paid off.
A lot of people ask me about where I find the inspiration to write.
I studied on my own. The web has hundreds of videos and websites devoted to writing and getting started. Many knowledgeable people are out there willing to share what they’ve learned.
How do you know what’s good?
(Pssst. . . Sometimes you just don’t.)
Curating the overload of information takes time. I look for reviews, viral posts and other credentials that say to me the author is a good source of material. We all know the bottom line: anybody out there can make a YouTube channel or write a blog post. A lot of people are just trying to monetize their tidbits of information. I have found a few favorites and these are two of my latest “go to’s”
Think of it as DR’s FAVORITES PLAYLIST.
Tiffany Yates Martin is someone I have been following since the beginning. She wrote a book (Intuitive Editing), is an editor, and presents online and in-person. Her page Fox Print Editorial has good information. I even tried to get her to edit for me but she books over a year out.
Here’s her latest blog post: Bringing Nonverbals to Life
Reedsy’s You Tube Channel is another source I use. Tracey Gold is an author and editor with a Reedsy page. She created a great presentation about dialogue I found very helpful. What she says is not new but it is put together in a nice package.
Common Mistakes in Writing Dialogue and How to Avoid
Have a wonderful autumn. I am hoping the next newsletter is all about how to order the book and where to find me for my book promotions.
All the Best!
